College of Computer Science and Technology

College of Computer Science and Technology (College of Big Data) was established in March 2023 by the College of Big Data and the Computer Science and technology discipline of the former College of Information and Computer Science. The school has seven undergraduate majors: Computer Science and Technology, Internet of Things Engineering, Blockchain engineering, Cyberspace security, Data Science and Big Data Technology, Artificial intelligence, and Intelligent Medical Engineering. The major of computer science and technology is a national characteristic and first-class major. The major of Internet of Things engineering is the national first-class major;It has doctoral and master programs in first-level disciplines of computer science and technology, doctoral and master programs in interdisciplinary disciplines of data science, and two professional master programs in second-level disciplines of big data technology and engineering and artificial intelligence.

College of Computer Science and Technology (College of Big Data) has a strong faculty with 125 staff members, including 14 professors, 27 associate professors, 5 senior engineers and 11 doctoral supervisors. It has one national New Century hundred million Talents Project, one expert enjoying the special allowance of The State Council, two academic and technology leaders in Shanxi Province, two young and middle-aged top talents in Shanxi universities, one famous teaching teacher in Shanxi Province, 15 "Three Jin Talents" in Shanxi Province, and two outstanding supervisors of graduate education in Shanxi Province.

College of Computer Science and Technology (College of Big Data) has advanced experimental teaching equipment and stable experimental practice teaching base, which helps to cultivate students' innovation consciousness and engineering ability. College of Computer Science and Technology (College of Big Data) has a high employment rate and enrollment rate. The graduation rate of graduates in 2022 was 37.29%, and the overall employment rate was 95.08%, an increase of nearly 6 percentage points compared with the graduation rate of graduates in 2021 of 31.6%, an increase of 5 percentage points compared with the overall employment rate of graduates in 2021 of 89.8%, and the graduation rate and the overall employment rate of graduates have steadily increased. Outstanding Alumni

Zhao Qinping, an expert in computer software and virtual reality, is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a professor at Beihang University. In 1975, he graduated from Taiyuan Institute of Technology (now Taiyuan University of Technology) with a bachelor's degree in radio technology. In 1981, he graduated from Taiyuan University of Technology with a master degree in electronics. He successively served as Director of the Office of Academic Degrees Committee of The State Council and Vice Minister of Education. He also served as deputy director of the Committee of Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports of the CPPCC National Committee and Vice Chairman of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology. He is currently the director of the Science and Technology Commission of the Ministry of Education, the director of the Academic Committee of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the chairman of the Chinese Simulation Society, and the director of the State Key Laboratory of Virtual Reality Technology and System.

Wang Qingsheng, graduated from Taiyuan University of Technology in 1984 majoring in computer science and technology, is the chairman of Shanxi Tingzones Technology Co., LTD.

Internet of Things Engineering

The major of Internet of Things engineering in our school was approved in 2010, and it is one of the first 27 universities in China to set up this major. In 2019, it was approved as the provincial first-class undergraduate major construction point in Shanxi Province, and in 2022, it was approved as the national first-class undergraduate major construction point. The major of Internet of Things engineering integrates multiple interdisciplinary disciplines such as computer, electronics, communication, software and management, and is one of the mainstream majors to train new engineering construction for the application needs of the Internet of Things industry.

In 2021, the Shanxi Provincial Department of Education issued the Catalogue of New Majors Proposed for Ordinary Colleges and Universities in Shanxi Province (2021-2023), setting the blockchain engineering major as an emerging and urgently needed major. The blockchain engineering major of our school was declared in 2021 and approved in 2022.
